Then as things progressed Samuel, a good man of God, appointed his son as leader of Israel. The people of Israel were not satisfied and wanted a king. They wanted a king because they saw other nations had one......(I bet their parents were saying "if other nations jumped off a bridge, would you do it".) When they asked for a king, Samuel did what we are all supposed to do when faced with a decision..... PRAY. God told him to do as the people of Israel wanted, give them a king BUT.... God also said warn them and let them know what the king will claim as his rights. So, Samuel does exactly as God told him, and even after the warning the Israelites still wanted the king so "....then (they) will be like all the other nations..." (1 Samuel 8:20). Long story short Saul is made king but fails as King.
What I Got from the Story
I feel like we always want things that we feel is best. And God sometimes gives us these things but also makes us aware of the consequences.
